Today was….interesting….

I didn’t sleep more than three hours last night (I woke up in a bad mood to prove it)….AND I had an interview this morning. I looked fine, but I FELT exhausted. A couple hours after leaving the interview, I found out I didn’t get the position. It’s the first interview I’ve had down here in California, so I’m not taking it TOO hard. It was a temporary position (through the holidays), it was anywhere from 20-40 hours a week (so most likely it wouldn’t be full time all the time), and I’m probably overqualified for it. I thought the interview went fine….I’m a good interviewer, so I don’t know what happened. I’m actually kind of surprised that I didn’t get it….I thought it went well. As luck would have it I happen to have another interview tomorrow and it’s a position I would love to have, so we will see how that goes.

I’ve been all emotional and hormonal on top of it all.

I went to Walgreen’s this evening and had a very interesting experience. It was just a routine trip to the drugstore to get some tampons when all of a sudden I hear a man yelling throughout the store. I look over and notice ALL of the other customers stopping to stare. A man had come in the store and was yelling at one of the Asian ladies who works there (I think that’s who he was yelling at anyway, I couldn’t really tell). He was African-American and I think he thought that she was following him or something to make sure he didn’t steal anything. I’m really not sure….he wasn’t making a whole lot of sense. He was yelling that she should go back to China or wherever she came from. And he KEPT going….no one was saying anything to him and no one was anywhere near him. It was appalling. Someone really should have made him leave (I think the employees were scared of him)….he was being very disrespectful and disturbing every single customer in the store. Some people….I tell ya.

To counteract the bad stuff, how about some GOOD things about today:

  • The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf….they have my favorite Pumpkin Latte
  • Watching David play pool
  • In ‘N Out Burgers
  • The Hills/The City/18 Kids and Counting
  • Laughing with David–really hard 🙂
  • I set up an interview for a job I really want tomorrow

Hopefully tomorrow will be grand!

Fun in Snohomish

Thursday was (one of) David’s going away parties. We went to a pool hall in Snohomish and then to Fred’s Ale House for dinner afterwards. I love Snohomish….first street is so much fun. There’s antique stores, cute little shops, fun bars, and yummy restaurants. I always have so much fun there. I got some pictures so I figured I would share them.

It was a fun night, for sure. Though I wish we had all been gathered together for a different reason, let’s just be honest. 🙂 He has really great friends….I’m sad I won’t really get to hangout with them much after he leaves. 😦 I feel lucky that I actually LIKE his friends! In any case, David loved seeing friends he doesn’t always see. I’m glad he had such a great time. I don’t want my monkey to leave….sigh. That’s a different post for a different day. Actually, it will never be a post….my thoughts and concerns about the whole thing are between me and him….we had a very good discussion about it yesterday. I am proud of my David and will support him whatever he decides to do.

So Much Fun

I am slacking a little in the blogging department. Mainly because my computer is annoying to blog on….I will be typing along and all of a sudden it will just start deleting everything I’ve written and won’t stop. It’s like I’m pushing the backspace key, except I’m not. Needless to say, it makes typing anything difficult! I’m using David’s computer right now though, so I think I will try to catch up on blogging about all the fascinating events of my life. 🙂

I’ve been nannying pretty much every day this week, so it’s been nice to make some money! Soon, I will be working a set amount of hours each week, so that will be nice. Besides working, I’ve been spending lots of quality time with David….what a lucky guy. 🙂 He is moving soon, so I’m trying to get as much time in with him as possible. He’s been really sweet and understanding. We went to the library on Monday. That might not sound very exciting to most people but I LOVE libraries. When I moved to Chicago one of the first things I did was sign up for a library card….it’s always kind of been a necessity for me. They have free wi-fi at the Snohomish library so David did some work and I facebooked and looked for jobs. David was laughing because I came back to the table with a huge stack of books. We also had some really great conversations. We were both open and honest with each other….it was so awesome. Probably one of my favorite days ever with David. 🙂

Tuesday night I played pool with David and his friend Ana and her boyfriend. It was a very humbling experience for me. David has been teaching me pool but before we started dating, I had never played in my life. Needless to say, I’m not very good. The other thing? Well, I’ve never actually played an actual game. It’s always just been me and David. Basically everyone (but me) was pretty decent at pool. It was me and David against Ana and her boyfriend. We lost….because of me. It was kind of embarassing for me. I tend to not like people staring at me either….so me playing a game I’m not very comfortable with, in front of people I had just met, was kind of unnerving. It was still fun…at least I can laugh at myself! 🙂 I always enjoy meeting David’s friends….they tend to all be cool.  After pool we went out to dinner at Fred’s (also in Snohomish).

David has been awesome and has let me use his car this week to drive to work. It saves me a VERY long bus ride, so I have been very appreciative. 🙂 He really is the best.

I’m learning not to take anything for granted these days….I’m having so much fun with my David. He’s moving soon, yes, but I have no doubt that we will make many more memories together….and I will appreciate them so much more. 🙂

I got to go on a date with my monkey last night. He works really hard and though I see him all the time, we don’t always get a lot of one on one quality time. We went to Zoka yesterday, which is a coffee shop in the U District that he introduced me to. He goes there and works and I apply for jobs, or blog, or facebook, or read a book. They have really good coffee and I really enjoy it. After that we decided to go play some pool. Rather than go to the same place we always go to in Lynnwood, we went to Snohomish. We had dinner at Fred’s, where we had a really good conversation….I feel a lot better about everything. He always seems to make me feel better. After dinner we headed down the street to play some pool. Believe it or not I AM learning to play…slowly but surely.

100_2209He looks way better than I do, of course. 🙂 Look at that form!

I learned how to rack. He likes all the colors to be in a certain order. I’m pretty good at it though, if I do say so myself. 🙂

David also let me break for the first time….it wasn’t too impressive, but according to him, it wasn’t too bad.

100_2216It was a fun night….sort of random and unexpected, which I like sometimes. And just in case I haven’t posted enough cutesy pictures, here is another. As you can tell by the last one, he was sort of over the pictures.

100_2212Thanks for my date, baby! 🙂 And thanks for putting up with the pictures!

Sunday Date :)

My boyfriend surprised me yesterday….I mean, REALLY surprised me. He spent the whole day with me…just me and him….no laptop in sight (well, it was in SIGHT part of the time, but he wasn’t working on it). Let me clarify one thing: I LOVE that he works hard, that he’s successful at running his own business, and most of all that he LOVES his job and loves it so much that he can spend hours upon hours doing it. I wouldn’t want anything else for him-heck it’s MY goal to find a job that I love that much! 🙂 That said, it was awesome to have a whole day to ourselves. I had such a fun day….it was exactly what I needed….and what he needed to. He’s been working so hard lately, I’m sure it felt nice to him to take a little break. First on the agenda was my second pool lesson. David is an avid pool player and is pretty amazing at it. He’s started teaching me how to play. I must say, I am getting MUCH better. After playing for awhile, we then headed off to Claim Jumpers, where we had a really yummy meal. We had some time to kill before the movie we were going to see, so we headed to Wal-Mart where we wandered around and enjoyed each other’s company. At 9:00 we went and saw “Up” and it was SOOOOO cute. I actually got all teary at the end (when the little boy is getting his badge and his dad didn’t show up). It was an awesome, very unexpected day and I felt very special and very loved. He’s a keeper, that one. We had a very fun date (that I unfortunately don’t have any pictures of….). 🙂

I love you, Monkey! 🙂

Pool

Last night David started teaching me how to play pool. I’ve attempted a few shots here and there since we’ve been dating but let’s just say I was horrible and I never even REMOTELY came close to actually hitting another ball, much less actually getting one in a pocket. Honestly I’ve never seen the appeal of pool….I always wondered where the fun is in it. Well folks….I was wrong. I actually had a LOT of fun. It helps that David is really good and knows what he’s doing. I even made three in a row once! I’m nowhere NEAR good, but I’m getting better. It’s always fun discovering something new. I didn’t want to stop playing. David had to admit that he was impressed….and surprised by how well I was doing (I can’t emphasize enough how HORRIBLE I was).

balls

David has had a lot of success lately with some of the stuff he is working on. He just recently released something he was working on and the next day it was featured on a popular website. He was really excited about it so I decided a drink to celebrate was in order…that’s where the bar and playing pool came in. 🙂 I’m proud of him. If any of you computer types want to take a look at it, his blog is on the list of blogs I read (“Always Move Fast”) is the title. I got myself a smart one, that’s for sure! 🙂
