I have so much going on right now….I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. I will write about it all in time, but until then here is this week’s edition of “10 On Tuesday”! 🙂 Don’t worry, it’s nothing bad, I just can’t talk about it all right now.

1. What was/is your favorite live action (meaning not animated) kids movie?
Pippi Longstocking….me and my sister must have watched it a MILLION times.

2. What is a bad habit you have? Are you working on breaking it?
I get overwhelmed sometimes and let things fall through the cracks. I’m working on it.

3. Describe your father in 3 words.
Distant, different, unpredictable

4. Which character in the Breakfast Club were you most like in the ’80s?
I’ve never seen it, so I have no idea. However, I was born in 83 so I doubt I was like any of them, since I was only 6 when the 80s ended.

5. Name 5 songs you know ALL the lyrics to.

I know all the lyrics to a LOT of songs. I guess I’ll pick my current 5 favorites: “It’s My Life” by Bon Jovi, “These Are the Days” by Sugarland, “All For You” by Sister Hazel, “Could Not Ask For More” by Sara Evans, and “Chances” by Five For Fighting. Random selection, but what can I say?

6. Do you make pancakes from scratch or a box mix?

Neither. Yes, I’m a culinary failure.

7. What was your worst job ever? Why?
My current one. Seriously….it pays the least amount of money of any job I’ve ever had. It’s far away, so it takes me forever to get there. AND it’s only part time. Oh, and it’s boring and half the time I just sit there with nothing to do.

8. What was your favorite class in high school?
Anything having to do with English or Literature.

9. Favorite summer guilty pleasure?
Well, I’m a grownup, so I don’t get summers like I used to. I’m not sure that I have any guilty pleasures associated with summer….

10. Please share your best money saving tip!
Ross or Craigslist. OR Target clearance items.

That’s it for this week! Want to participate? Go here.

Today is just one of “those” days (whatever that means exactly). I am working all day (from 10 am to 8 pm) on a BEAUTIFUL saturday. This means that I had to wake up at 7 am. That is especially hard when your cuddly boyfriend is still all cozy in bed, fast asleep. To drag myself out from under the covers was REALLY difficult this morning. It, for some reason, makes it worse to know that if I had the day off I could be spending it with him. His family is down in Seattle today, so they’re having all kinds of fun and I’m missing out. 😦

I’m also feeling a little sensitive and emotional. It’s one of those days where pretty much anything can make me tear up. It’s a day where my feelings get hurt easily. A day where I would much rather be at home. And knowing I get to work all day tomorrow as well, doesn’t make it any easier.

I know I’m lucky to have a job when so many don’t….I just wish I didn’t have to work on the weekends. That makes a big difference. I don’t like spending my days off by myself because everyone else is working. I don’t like that I don’t have even ONE day off with my boyfriend every week. I’ve always had monday through friday jobs, so it’s not something I’m really used to.

I really want to go on a weekend getaway. Hmmm….maybe I will plan that for this summer…..

Okay, I’m going to stop my whining and try to cheer myself up. At least the day is over half over!

I have had a thrilling day today….

I started out my day by doing three loads of laundry. I don’t MIND doing laundry, but it seems to be something I put off lately. I seem to only do it when I am completely out of underwear, David is completely out of socks, etc. I could do a little bit at a time (so I don’t HAVE to do three loads at a time) but that would just make too much sense. If we had a washer and dryer IN the apartment, it would be a different story. It’s so much easier just to throw loads in when you don’t have to leave. Yes, the laundry room is only a few floors down, but it’s just more of a pain. Since I have to work ALL weekend from open to close, I knew the laundry wouldn’t get done if I didn’t take care of it today.

While the laundry was going, I finished catching up on the Real Housewives of New York Reunion special. I then plopped myself down on the living room floor and folded all of the clothes while I watched. If I don’t do the folding right away, it won’t get done. We just don’t have the room to not put them away promptly. Plus, I really like how a clean organized closet looks AND I really can’t stand clutter.

I wanted to vacuum and do the dishes, but that didn’t end up happening. I made the bed, but that’s the only other chore that got done today. I still feel quite productive (and I’m usually really good about keeping everything pretty picked up on a day to day basis).

I had to head off to work at about 2 (which I wasn’t very happy about), so I would say my day was pretty productive even BEFORE I went to work! I like days like that.

I plan on making Chocolate Chip Banana Bread tonight with the ripe bananas we have. I found some good recipes, so we’ll see how that goes. I’ve never made banana bread before, so it’ll be a fun adventure. David also got me some homemade chili from the market across the street (it’s my favorite!) so I have that to look forward to as well. I’ve been craving it lately.

Not a very exciting Friday, but it isn’t really “friday” to me anyway. My week has really just begun. I hate working on weekends….it makes me feel like I’m missing out (even if I’m not). I’m looking at changing that, but I can’t give too many details….

I’m back to working full time, temporarily, so my “weekend” is Tuesday and Wednesday. I’m having a hard time getting used to that again and I’m not exactly happy about it for numerous reasons, but that’s all I’m going to say….

I have a new addiction. It’s called the DVR. I have to say, this gadget is such an awesome invention. I know it has been around for awhile, but apparently I’m slow at catching up with new technologies. The point is, I HAVE discovered it now and I can never go back.

Since we haven’t had cable for awhile, I got very behind on all my cheesy reality shows. I’ve been doing a lot of catching up. In fact, most of my day off on Tuesday was spent watching old episodes of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. Yes, I admitted it….I like the “Real Housewives” shows. I’m also a huge fan of TLC reality shows. I’m also a huge fan of On Demand….but that hasn’t been working….we have “error 14”, whatever that means….

I made up for my day on the couch on Wednesday, when I proceeded to walk around the city for four or five hours straight….obviously I’m insane. I went to the bank and then decided to go to a bunch of different stores, to Starbucks, and then finally to meet David when he got off work. Seattle’s streets are not flat, folks. There are some pretty serious hills. I figure it’s great exercise and so much more entertaining than being stuck inside on a treadmill. I’ve been doing a LOT more walking than ever before….which I think is a good thing.

I’ve been doing a lot of baking….the boys like that a lot. Mike (our roommate) has taken to requesting cookies. He even bought some “cookie supplies” so I would make some. David said they were my best cookies yet! That’s a high compliment from him! Basically they were peanut butter cookies with crumbled up pieces of Heath bars in them. Next they want me to make Banana Bread. I don’t mind….I love baking and it’s only fun when you have people to bake FOR.

I finally rented Leap Year and watched it. I’ve been wanting to see it for a long time but the stupid Blockbuster Express box by our house, hasn’t had it. I finally just went to Red Box (which is WAY better, just further away from us) and rented some movies. They have a better selection, better machines, and a better website. I really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was REALLY cute and I just may need to purchase it. I loved that it was only rated PG so it wasn’t inappropriate in any way and there really wasn’t any bad language. Plus it is set in Ireland, so the scenery was absolutely beautiful. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a “chick flick” I’ve really liked.

David and I also watched Unthinkable. It was an AWESOME movie….until the ending. David actually yelled: “Are you kidding me?!” at the end. The movie itself kept me guessing the entire time, which I always like. The ending really was awful. It just abruptly ended and didn’t really resolve anything. It’s a shame, because the rest of the movie really was excellent.

I’m hesitent to say this for fear I will jinx it, but I THINK summer may finally have arrived in Seattle. The last few days (including today) have been beautiful and I’m hoping the trend continues. Our best weather usually doesn’t start until after the 4th of July, so we’re still in pretty good shape. In honor of the warm weather, I went out and bought some fun nail polish so I could paint my toenails. If I’m going to be wearing flip flops, my toes need to look good! I also got out the Jergens Natural Glow lotion, because I am whiter than white. I swear, my legs are blinding. If I’m going to start wearing skirts and dresses, I need to not be blinding everyone I come across! I also really love the smell of it for some reason….it just makes me think of summer.

1. If you could trade lives with another blogger for a day, who would it be and why?
I’m going to say Pioneer Woman….I’m sure that was a very popular answer, but I bet she has a great kitchen…..and probably even a Kitchen Aid Mixer. 🙂

2. Do you prefer receiving handmade or store bought gifts? Be honest!

Probably store bought-that sounds really shallow but I would love a mixer or an awesome camera right now. HOWEVER, if it’s a homemade gift like a quilt….THAT would be awesome! I love quilts. I actually want to learn to quilt.

3. Would you rather camp or stay in a hotel?
Camp….I’m from the Pacific Northwest….we’re “outdoorsy”. Just kidding….I just really love being outdoors especially near water. We also didn’t camp much when I was a kid (my mom HATED it), so I want to make up for that. I would love to go on at least one camping trip this summer.

4. What’s your favorite comfort food?
The chili from the market across the street….seriously it’s awesome. I also love mashed potatoes-the instant kind (Idahoan brand to be exact) but I don’t indulge in them often.

5. You’re having a really bad day at work. How do you unwind when you come home?
Baking is awesome for relieving stress. I also enjoy watching mindless reality tv.

6. What’s your favorite chore? (Or, the chore you hate the least)
I don’t really mind cleaning but probably laundry.

7. What got you interested in blogging?
I started blogging back before it was called that. I had a diaryland account when I lived in Chicago. David got me back into it though.

8. Are you currently reading a book? What is it?
It’s called, “A Voyage Long and Strange”. It’s all about explorations of America back before the Mayflower. It’s interesting….you don’t usually hear about much before the Mayflower. I’m a nerd, I LOVE history.

9. Do you have a favorite artist?

I really don’t.

10. Have you ever met someone famous?

I actually haven’t. Sad but true.

Well, it’s Monday….my least favorite day of the week. It’s funny how even though I work on the weekends and monday for me isn’t quite the same as for those who work Monday through Friday, I STILL hate it! I think my main issue with today is the fact that I’m working from 10 am to 8 pm. Yes, that’s ten hours folks!

I normally work part time. However, our other part time person gave her two weeks notice, and yesterday was her last day. They hired someone new, but for the next couple weeks (while the new person is training) I will be working full time. It’s something I’ve done here before, but I’m not used to it now. I am glad I get a couple weeks of full time wages, that’ll be nice! I just need to get through today and then I have tomorrow and Wednesday off.

In “honor” of monday (though, let’s face it, it doesn’t deserve to be honored), here are some of the things making me happy today:

1.) My triple grande mocha….it REALLY helped me wake up this morning, I’m not going to lie. I’m slightly embarassed that I seem to be addicted to coffee now….the people at Starbucks recognize me….that’s never happened to me before. I’m trying to cut down, but today I needed some.

2.) We have internet, cable, On Demand, AND DVR at the apartment now! I am so excited. It’s supposed to be recording a bunch of Real Housewives of New Jersey episodes today. We haven’t had cable so I need to catch up on all of them. I really do enjoy the Real Housewives shows….I’m a little ashamed to admit that but oh well!

3.) I have all day tomorrow to clean and do laundry. The apartment is in some SERIOUS need of some freshening up. Most people probably wouldn’t consider that something to look forward to, but I love having a clean house. It makes me instantly more relaxed. I can’t focus when my surroundings are in chaos.

4.) I love that David has an adorable little niece I can buy clothes for. I was killing time before work at Target yesterday, and I found an adorable little outfit for her. I love having an excuse to look at all the cute baby things. Let me tell ya, that little girl is going to be so spoiled with all these adults around to spoil her.

5.) I found a beer I like! Everyone makes fun of me and my “chick beer” (Mike’s Hard Lemonade) so I have been trying to find one I like. David always makes me try his, but it always makes me want to gag. Someone I work with suggested I try Blue Moon with a slice of Orange. David ordered me one last night and I liked it! David tends to always get really dark beers, so I think that’s the problem….I like them lighter. I can work up to the dark ones! Maybe….

6.) Salad and soup for dinner. The market across the street from our apartment: M Street Grocery, kind of reminds me of Central Market (just smaller). They have excellent soups you can buy by the cup and also a great salad bar. We’ve been having a lot of that for dinner lately. I tend to like lighter dinners in the summer. My favorites, so far, are the roasted tomato and the Chili….so good!

7.) I’m loving the new issue of Real Simple. For some reason, it’s my favorite magazine. It’s pretty much all about organizing your home with some recipes thrown in….pretty much the perfect magazine for me! I’ve been waiting and waiting for the new issue, and I finally got it on Saturday. Yes, I’m a nerd and no, I’m not ashamed. I should probably just subscribe to it….

8.) I’ve been really into History lately. I’ve always loved history, except for during my junior year of high school, where I had an awful teacher who made it all so incredibly BORING. History just shouldn’t be boring, in my opinion. Anyway, I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately on historical subjects. They’re books I normally wouldn’t purchase, but since they’re on clearance (and oftentimes only 3.99), I can’t pass them up. I finished Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick recently (I now want to read all of his books….) and I’m currently reading A Voyage Long and Strange by Tony Horwitz (it’s basically about all the historical events that happened BEFORE the Mayflower).

9.) The Rockstar Diaries blog. The pictures are so great…it makes me want to get a nicer camera and take cool pictures! Work is often slow and dull, so reading blogs keeps me entertained for awhile.

10.) King is doing much better and this makes me VERY happy! I guess they are feeding him kitten food every few hours, and he’s starting to gain weight back. Kitten food has a lot of vitamins and nutrients, I guess. Apparently, grains can be hard on older cats’ digestion…so that must have been what the problem was. For the time being, Kingy seems to be doing great. I’m sure he also likes being around the other cats again, too.

I was bored at work yesterday so I spent most of the time reading blogs, facebooking, and searching Craigslist for living room chairs. As you can imagine, work was more than a little slow yesterday. I stumbled across a blog I had never read before and came across a post that made me laugh and that I definitely agreed with. It was about baking vs. cooking and how people who enjoy baking are not usually the same people who enjoy cooking. People tend to like one more than the other. I love baking and really don’t enjoy cooking. I know I should probably work on that….and I will, however, I don’t think it will every be something I really ENJOY. Baking is therapeutic and let’s face it….you can’t beat the aromas.

David, on the other hand, is an AWESOME cook. He makes the most amazing dishes and he usually makes them up as he goes along. That stresses ME out. I want to have a specific recipe with measurements and step by step instructions. Hence why I like baking….the measurements are precise and there is no guessing. I guess we balance each other out.

One of the blogs I read regularly had a guest blogger: A Peine For Your Thoughts. I always like finding new blogs to read, and I definitely enjoyed this one. The post I was referring to is here. Go check it out and decide for yourself whether you’re a cook or a baker. 🙂

On that note, I now have the urge to bake something…..
